Arlon's CSUMB ProSeminar CST300 Module 8 Learning Journal for the week Wed 02/24-Saturday 02/27, year 2021 Journal 8 Part 1: Review Other Teams' final video projects As if you are their presentation coach, review the videos produced by three teams - including the two listed below yours in the share google doc "CST 300 Final Presentation Topic" and one of your choice. You are encouraged to review more. If your project is listed at the end, select the team at the top, so every team is reviewed by at least two others. Insert the link of the video and your evaluation and suggestion to your learning journal. Optional: You can also insert your evaluation and suggestions directly to their youtube video page as comments. Be constructive! The evaluation should include, but is not limited to 1. is the topic well covered? 2. is the presentation clear? 3. how is the quality of the research? 4. how is the quality of the video production? 5. is the video engaging ...

Arlon's CSUMB ProSeminar CST300 Module 7 Learning Journal for the week Wed 02/17-Tues 02/23, year 2021

Arlon's CSUMB ProSeminar CST300 Module 7 Learning Journal for the week Wed 02/17-Tues 02/23, year 2021 Journal 7 Part 1 : This week we continued work on our team video. We collaborated by first deciding how to collaborate. Siju got us off to a good start by writing both of the scripts right away. Gloriana and Cristian kept the momentum by somehow creating something called a "Microsoft Power Point Presentation" for each video. I was able to provide the narration for both videos. This took a lot more practice than I thought it would, but once I got the practice taken care of, I was finally able to do a better narration. What I mean by that was that for both videos there were many many iterations of redos of the narration. Once I felt I had gotten it all the way through without stuttering, choking, slobbering or any weird noises, I listened to it and it sounded a bit stressed, because I was trying to sound exciting! So then I spent some time working on relaxing at the same ...

Arlon's CSUMB ProSeminar CST300 Module 6 Learning Journal for the week Wed 02/10-Tues 02/16, year 2021

Arlon's CSUMB ProSeminar CST300 Module 6 Learning Journal for the week Wed 02/10-Tues 02/16, year 2021 journal 6 Well I was happy we were finally handed a programming project this week - create the ILP website [bones] -  Arlon Arriola's ILP Site   https://arlonarriola.com/?school/csumb/ilp  although with zero instruction other than we can just use a free builder like weebly and here's a youtube on how to use weebly, I almost feel bad not only already knowing how to make a website that does this but already having built not only an entire framework that handles it but an entire Java GUI app that manages the content and blasts out the JSON, PHP, JavaScript, HTML and CSS to make it all into a coherent REST capable website, not only that but one that uses AJAX page retrieval in addition to hard-rendering each page with PHP first so it has REST and also so google can crawl all the pages. So instead of - or actually in addition to weebly I used my WebBlaster progra...

Arlon's CSUMB ProSeminar CST300 Module 5 Learning Journal for the week Wed 02/03-Tues 02/09, year 2021

Arlon's CSUMB ProSeminar CST300 Module 5 Learning Journal for the week Wed 02/03-Tues 02/09, year 2021 I made comments on two student blogs, Cristian and Cheuk's, regarding educational and career goals, the links are: https://cristiansjournal.blogspot.com/2021/02/i-think-i-have-few-goals-in-cs-program.html?showComment=1612916522367#c6640542203482886533 https://chuckyims.blogspot.com/2021/02/week-4.html?showComment=1612916977575#c3666531575588967031 Capstone Ideas 1. HyperBlaster - some effort toward an elegantly designed and coded Java version of HyperCard that uses lots of interesting programming paradigms. Produces JSON output that renders programs in Swing and/or JavaScript/HTML and/or PHP/HTML and/or JavaScript/PHP/HTML and/or Perl/Tk and/or Python/Tk. 2. Running a non-trivial Java program on a cluster I set up and configure that actually somehow uses the cluster nodes to optimize it's computation speed. 3. Java Swing GUI app connected to servos that controls an entir...

Arlon's CSUMB ProSeminar CST300 Module 4 Learning Journal for the week Wed 1/27-Tues 2/2, year 2021

Arlon's CSUMB ProSeminar CST300 Module 4 Learning Journal for the week Wed 1/27-Tues 2/2, year 2021 My educational goals are specific but also broad reaching. I am an expert programmer and would like to gain system and network administration knowledge and maybe robotics building knowledge too, and definitely more mathematics knowledge.  I started off in life, as a kid, with interest in puzzles, programming, math, science, mechanical and aesthetic design and architecture, going the direction of a mechanically inclined chemist, and wound up finding more math and interesting problems in physics, so began my higher educational path specifically toward physics and math knowledge, with programming as a very consistent hobby throughout. As more of a pure scientist, degrees, titles, certifications and the like were never my goal, but I think my projection of my persona to the world was viewed in high contrast. On one hand I had math and science teachers telling me I was one of the sm...
