Service Learning Journal 56, Friday week 8 CST-462s Race, gender, Class in the Digital World Assigned questions: What went well? What would you improve? What was the most impactful part? Just an attitude of wanting to make an impact makes an impact. People see the spirit of wanting to participate, join in and help with what they are doing and automatically that generates positive energy. What challenges did you face? In 25 hours nobody really knows exactly what to do with you, especially at first, so you kind of have to jump in, be outgoing, which is tough if you're shy (myself) and show what you can do. Once the ice is broken and people see you're not just there because you have community service in lieu of jail time or something, and see that you want to help and participate, you should be good. What went well was general overall attitude by all parties involved. My service site was extremely friendly with me and that really helped me for me to come out of my shell and

My iterations were to experiment with removing the gradient from the person icon, because of our other class I kept the gradient on the face and changed the hair to various colors, also I lightened up the background behind the black text so you can see it better for better accessibility. For more iterations I changed the colors of the boards and backgrounds and a few of the icons, and moved the icons around, and made some new ones. Discussion

Statement summarizing my research, critical analysis, and defining the purpose and scope of the app: This is my graphical rendition of a hypothetical mobile version of a JavaScript and PHP game I once created for Facebook on Chrome that was once popular with Reversi players on Facebook. The original game is an improvement on an earlier game that was very simple but abandoned. This graphical rendition created in Illustrator for this assignment uses the concepts we learned from this class such as hierarchy of important items, user recognition, symmetry, alignment (although I need to work on creating aligning grids I guess, because some of the lines aren't straight, like we learned how to make them, but I ran out of time, so I'll have to save that for later.) My research included what online Reversi tournament players wanted the app to look like and included interviews with players, but that was a long time ago, so this is just a rendition based on that game with Illustrator

I wasn't being very creative in XD until I finally found the gradient tool. Now I can finally make stuff. Link to prototype https://xd.adobe.com/view/8c942209-f35b-4ae6-b73c-69bb56bcf5c8-d9c7/?fullscreen What does design fidelity mean? That's similar to saying the amount of detail in a design. What are the benefits of prototyping? The benefits of prototyping are that you can visually picture your design using graphical tools and graphically detect problems in layout, design, appearance and accessibility with prototyping. Also you could use it to explain or partly demonstrate an idea to someone before you make it. It's always good to draw a picture before you do anything, always start with a picture, and a prototype is like a picture only with a little working functionality built-in too. Describe how you applied some of the interaction design principles in your design? Mine's kind of like a photo maze. As soon as I figured out gradients and drop shadow I was abl

This is a hypothetical application design for graphics design class. How my work aligns with the concepts I've read about through this module: I used lots of balance and symmetry to keep my design not too aesthetically annoying, just enough asymmetry to make it a little more interesting, vibrant colors to make it exciting and I tried to copy the how-to video as close as I could since I had zero creative inspiration that would somehow exactly parallel the lecture, then when I saw I needed a third layout I just added some photos, flames, lightning, moved stuff around, changed the icons a little, and tried to make it all match together and delete what didn't fit anymore. I used a grid and did everything almost exactly like in the lecture, just got a little more creative with the last one. I think superposition is feature in several places for mine especially in the third one I couldn't decide what was better so I tried to show everything simultaneously with transparen
